Howzat? Excursion gets the runs on the board

Nothing says summer in Adelaide like cricket at Adelaide Oval. Today, Year 7 student Fraser Pedersen shares his thoughts on a memorable excursion.

Yesterday, a group of lucky Year 7 students went on an exciting excursion to Adelaide Oval to witness a Sheffield Shield game and engage in various activities.

Our day kicked off with a leisurely walk to Adelaide Oval, with a pitstop at the Bakery on O’Connell. Upon reaching the venue, we were greeted by the day’s instructors who briefed us on the day’s agenda.

Settling into our seats, we watched South Australia take the last five wickets just before lunch.

After enjoying the game for a while, we headed to the indoor nets and training facilities for a hands-on experience, taking turns with the bat and ball.

Returning to the stands, we continued to savour the cricket spectacle, before having the opportunity for an on-ground photo.

A special highlight of our day was courtesy of Lawrie Colliver (the father of Year 7 student Ben), who generously provided us with an exclusive tour of the commentary box.

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to witness Lawrie and his team providing live commentary and even mentioning our school.

Thanks to Mr Baldacchino and Mr Leditschke for taking us on this unique experience. The Adelaide Oval excursion will undoubtedly remain etched in our memories.
