Blackfriars is delighted to welcome a number of new staff members in 2023. We look forward to getting to know them – and here’s a head start.

Name: Verity Arthur

What is your role in 2023? I will be working as an ESO (Education Support Officer) in the Primary School.

Where are you joining us from? Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School. I worked there for 11.5 years as a School Services Officer. I also worked in Out of School Hours Care and as the Uniform Shop Coordinator.

What do you hope to bring to Blackfriars? A friendly, caring personality and experience working with children from a range of cultures. I completed my Certificate 4 in Education Support in 2022 through TAFE SA.

What’s the best thing about working in a school? Working as part of a dedicated team and watching students grow and learn. I feel a sense of pride when I have positively contributed to a student’s life.

What’s your favourite song and why? Good Morning Sunshine, by Aqua, because it makes me feel happy to be alive and reminds me that each day is a new day to be the best person I can be.

Your favourite movie? National Lampoon’s European Vacation. An oldie but a goody.  It’s entertaining and I love the humour. I laugh every time I watch it.

What would we typically find in your lunchbox? Either a Vegemite or cheese and spinach sandwich, a muesli bar and fruit. I love crisps as a treat food.
