This week, 14 students took part in games of Football3, run by One Culture Football and coordinated by Prospect Council.
The council’s Youth Coordinator, Mark Crabtree, said Football3 was much more than just a game of soccer.
“Football3 is globally recognised for its methodology that incorporates key life lessons into every match,” Mr Crabtree said.
“Students collectively decide the rules before the game and behaviour of their opponents. Points are awarded for goals and fair play.
“The match is conducted without referees, with players resolving any conflict themselves.
“Other values taught and promoted include respect, honestly and teamwork.”

Football3 is named for its three “halves” – a pre- and post-match discussion and the game itself.
It’s designed to promote communication and mutual respect, on and off the pitch.
The Blackfriars boys set the rules for their games, including showing respect and support for one another.
Blackfriars EAL (English as an Additional Language) Coordinator Linda Harvey said the Football3 program was a “valuable opportunity for the boys to learn about interpersonal and life skills”.
