Last Thursday evening, members of the Blackfriars community spanning three generations joined together to recognise and celebrate the 60 years of service given to the school by Br Brendan O’Hearn OP – affectionately known as BB.
The evening commenced with Mass in the Chapel of St Albert the Great, concelebrated by Prior of the North Adelaide Dominican Community, Fr Kevin Saunders OP, former Blackfriars Principal, Fr John Neill OP OAM, Blackfriars Chaplain, Fr William Loh OP and Fr Ben Hensley OP.
Fr Anthony Walsh OP, Prior Provincial of the Province of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Australia, New Zealand and the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, was also a guest at the event.
Following Mass, around 160 people (including past and present staff, Old Scholars and past parents) gathered in Frassati Hall to hear stories from BB’s life and times at Blackfriars from the man himself and long-standing staff member, Mr Jon Harmer.
