Excellence achieved – Top rating for Blackfriars’ OSHC

Blackfriars’ Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) service has been rated among the best in the state, according to new industry data.

The data, from independent analyst app KindiCare, shows Blackfriars’ OSHC is rated “excellent”, the highest possible achievement.

It is one of only 26 OSHC providers in the state to have achieved the “excellent” rating.

The ratings, out of a maximum 10, are based on government audits and family feedback. They are also rated as excellent, very good, good or fair.

Blackfriars’ OSHC scored 9.07. The state’s highest-rated OSHC scored 9.32.

OSHC director Rita Quaini said her staff put in extra effort to get to know each child, as well as their families.

“Knowing a child’s family can help educators to develop learning experiences that are meaningful for every child,” Ms Quaini said.

“Staff consistently develop and maintain respectful and equitable relationships with each and every child through a range of strategies and planned activities within the OSHC environment.”

The KindiCare Rating provides an indicator of a centre’s quality, performance and customer satisfaction compared with other services on the market.

The rating is also influenced by government service quality audits, ratings, reviews, trends and community feedback, aggregated by KindiCare.

Latest data from the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority showed Blackfriars’ OSHC had been rated as “exceeding” national quality standards.

KindiCare founder and chief executive Benjamin Bulk developed the KindiCare app to simplify the task of choosing an OSHC service or childcare centre.

He told The Advertiser the best centres had directors who fostered the right learning environment for educators and children.

“They also have consistent and constant positive feedback from the community and strong performance over time, under the national quality framework,” Mr Bulk said.
