Welcome to our weekly co-curricular wrap.
Soccer
Once again, the First XI got the Hounds off to a great start in week 3, winning 5-0 on Wednesday night at TK Shutter Reserve (Metro Stars). Isaac Matikulas (Year 10) continued his rich vein of form, netting 4 goals.
On Saturday morning, it was 6 wins from 7 games, scoring 45 goals across the board. The highlight game of the week was the Year 6s’ narrow win over CBC in a 3-2 thriller.
Basketball
A well-deserved week off for the Senior A-Cs and Middle A-Cs meant the Hounds basketball only had 4 teams playing over the weekend.
In the blockbuster down at PAC on Friday, we had the Blackfriars Year 5/6 derby, as Blackfriars Black played Blackfriars Red for school bragging rights. And it definitely didn’t disappoint! An absolute classic unfolded, with the game finishing 14-14. A perfect result for all coaches and teachers.
On Saturday, we finished with 1 win and 1 loss away at Rostrevor for the Senior Ds and Year 7s.
Football
Our Year 5/6 Primary team had a tricky away day at Westminster School on Saturday, with the Hounds going down 5.13 to 2.4 in a highly competitive game that somehow managed to avoid the rain.
Good luck to the Year 5/6 team next week as they head to Grange Primary School for the knockout cup.
Senior School and Middle School football starts in week 4, so there will be more football news next week.
Table Tennis
It was 3 wins and 2 losses for the Hounds Table Tennis teams on Friday night. The tough trip to St Peters proved to be just that, with the Open As (1) and Middle As (1) going down in hard-fought losses.
Once again, the Neill Gymnasium turned into the notorious fortress that it is and produced 3 wins from 3! Excellent work, boys!
Lacrosse
A great weekend for the U8s as they opened the Blackfriars account for the 2023 season, finishing with a nail-biting 10-6 victory over East Torrens Payneham. Elgin Pandya (Year 2) with 2 goals and best on ground.
In the other games, we fell short against some very good North Adelaide and East Torrens Payneham teams.
The under 11s teams face off against each other this weekend at Cane Reserve in what promises to be a great game!
