The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) was held on 3 August. It is a 30-problem competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of maths in students’ everyday lives.
It has five divisions, with Blackfriars students this year taking part from Year 6 – Middle Primary (Years 3-4), Upper Primary (Years 5-6), Junior (Years 7-8), Intermediate (Years 9-10) and Senior (Years 11-12).
Congratulations to the following students on their outstanding results.

A number of boys also achieved a Proficiency.
Meanwhile, Year 9 student Hugh Caton last week sat the four-hour, 10 question Australian Intermediate Mathematics Olympiad (AIMO).
The AIMO is designed for students who have shown exceptional ability in the maths Challenge and Enrichment programs and the AMC.
Thank you to our Head of Mathematics, Sam Capurso, for his continued support of our young mathematicians.
