Inaugural colour run fundraiser comes to Blackfriars
Blackfriars’ ongoing commitment to The Mary Potter Foundation is set to explode in a riot of colour and community spirit as the school hosts its inaugural colour run fundraiser.
As part of the annual St Dominic’s Day celebrations, on 1 August, students from ELC to Year 12 will be part of the colour run, which has already raised almost $8000 for the palliative care work of The Mary Potter Foundation.
“We’re so excited to add this extra element to the well-established fun of St Dominic’s Day,” Assistant Principal Religious Identity and Mission Angela Collins said.
“And, of course, we are thrilled to be able to continue raising money for The Mary Potter Foundation. The work they do to support people in palliative care, and their families, is just outstanding.

“As a school community, this is a cause close to our hearts and we are delighted to find another fundraising avenue to support them.”
Participating students are asked to wear white – which helps the colour from the paint powder to “pop” – for the event, to be held on the school’s back oval.
The colour run will close out the St Dominic’s Day celebrations, which will also include a Mass, a fete, arcade games and more.
St Dominic’s Day is one of Blackfriars’ most important annual celebrations.
As a Catholic school established by the Dominican friars, the teachings of St Dominic underline who we are and how we conduct our ourselves.

Fundraising registrations for the colour run are now open.
Year 5/6 Niedzwiecki is leading the way, already raising almost $2500, followed by Mr Bratt’s Year 5/6 class, on $1725. Year 6 student Tomas Hruska, who also took part in this week’s Blackfriars Greatest Shave, is the highest individual fundraiser, with just over $1300.
