Blackfriars 2025 Semester 1 Honour Roll (Secondary)
We are pleased to share the Blackfriars 2025 Semester 1 Honour Roll.
Study is one of the Four Pillars of Dominican education. The publishing of an Academic Honour Roll has a long tradition at Blackfriars.
At the end of each semester, we acknowledge students who have achieved an Award for Effort, Honours, High Honours and Highest Honours, based on their semester grades.
Speaking at this week’s awards assembly, Principal David Ruggiero said the Academic Honour Roll was time-honoured way to acknowledge our students’ commitment to excellence.
He called on all students to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.

“I was speaking to a gentleman from Liverpool (Football Club) … and he explained to me that success is not to do with how skilled you are at soccer, because skilled soccer players are somewhat a dime a dozen,” Mr Ruggiero said.
“Rather, it’s their ability to work together as a team. Their ability to get over something when it doesn’t go their way. Their ability to turn up for training even when they are exhausted. Their ability to do something for the community. Their ability to get out there and live their lives equivalent to the Four Pillars – not just on the soccer pitch but doing something for other people.

“So, as we celebrate the academic and holistic success of our school, it reminds us that we should aspire to have resilience in life; to have the commitment and the work ethic to keep going and to support our mates.
“Because, on all those pitches out there, there’ll be some guys who will make the First team and some guys who won’t, but you still need to be able to support one another in doing that. That’s also testimony to who you are as a person.”
